AmCham Hosts Newly Elected Member of Parliament, Tsogtbaatar Damdin, for First Meeting with the Private Sector
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – On Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016 the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia hosted its July Monthly Meeting with H.E. D. Tsogtbaatar for his first public appearance as a newly elected Member of Parliament and the first formal engagement between the Mongolian People’s Party and the private sector since the election. The Honorable Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia also attended the meeting as a guest of honor.
The meeting convened over 50 participants, including AmCham members and representatives from the private sector. Guests were able to hear and ask questions regarding the Mongolian People’s Party national development platform and plans to enhance the private sector and rebuild foreign investors’ confidence.
His Excellency D. Tsogtbaatar, Member of Parliament, said during his keynote remarks, “Consistency in policy and rule of law is very important and the new government will do everything to ensure these.” Further, he commented on the results of Mongolia’s 2016 Parliamentary elections saying that, “The results of the election sends a signal by the voters saying ‘no’ to populism and resource nationalism.”
During her opening remarks, The Honorable Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia noted, “AmCham Mongolia has been remarkably effective in identifying challenges and advocating on behalf of its members and the business sector with the government and public.”
