The American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia Strengthens Focus on Mongolia’s Agriculture Industry
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – The American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (AmCham) hosted a meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 with Mr. L Choi-Ish, Policy Advisor to the Minister of Food and Agriculture and Mr. M. Tsolmon, Managing Director of the Crop Support Fund, Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Also in attendance was the Honorable Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia. The meeting convened over 50 domestic and international business leaders to hear directly from our distinguished guests.
The Speakers provided informative briefings on the state policy in the agriculture sector, the government efforts toward economic diversification through increasing meat export as well as the government policies in the crop sector development. The remarks by guest speakers were followed by a Q&A session.
Jay Liotta, Chairman of AmCham Mongolia introduced the speakers and noted that, “The American agriculture sector is sophisticated and well-developed and offers the best agricultural technologies and innovative machinery and equipment that can be offered to Mongolia.”
During his remarks, Mr. Choi-Ish stated that, “The state policy priorities to develop the agriculture sector development over the next ten years are to provide farmers access to financing, the commercialization of 60 million heads of livestock, applying innovative technologies, and increased research and development.
Ambassador Galt emphasized that, “The US Embassy is looking forward to working with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, AmCham and other stakeholders in utilizing innovative American technologies and know-how in the development of the agriculture sector in Mongolia.”
