The U.S. Department of State’s 2017 Investment Climate Statement for Mongolia Unveiled at AmCham’s Monthly Meeting
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia hosted its June Monthly Meeting, Mongolia’s Investment Climate 2017 and Beyond, with the Honorable Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, United States Ambassador to Mongolia, and Mr. Jay Liotta, Chairman of AmCham Mongolia, on June 28, 2017, at Shangri-La Hotel Ulaanbaatar.
The meeting convened AmCham members and representatives from leading Mongolian businesses, in addition to representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mongolia’s Investment Protection Council. The U.S. Department of State’s 2017 Investment Climate Statement for Mongolia, a key annual statement that reports on the overall investment climate in Mongolia, challenges, and ways forward, was unveiled at the meeting by Ambassador Galt. AmCham Mongolia Chairman Jay Liotta reported on AmCham’s 2017 U.S. Trade Mission, which included the largest Mongolian delegation to ever take part in the annual initiative. The meeting also hosted a comprehensive Q&A session with the speakers regarding key topics of interest.
Ambassador Galt delivered keynote remarks during the presentation of the U.S. Department of State’s 2017 Investment Climate Statement for Mongolia and highlighted, “A clear, transparent, and predictable legal and regulatory framework is the critical first step toward making Mongolia and attractive and competitive investment destination.”
Reporting on AmCham’s fourth and largest-ever U.S. Trade Mission, Mr. Liotta said, “AmCham Mongolia thanks our delegates for making our Trade Mission a great success. With your participation, we delivered strong messages in Washington, D.C. that Mongolia is steering in the right direction. Now, we will deliver the messages of the U.S. government and private sector to the Mongolian government to produce concrete results to further strengthen the U.S.-Mongolia commercial relationship and turn the page toward greater commercial successes.”
