Press release – AmCham September Monthly Meeting hosts Chargé d’Affaires Manuel Micaller
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia hosted its September Monthly Meeting, Mongolia’s Investment Climate 2018 and Beyond, with Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia Mr. Manuel Micaller on September 28, 2018 at the Shangri-La Hotel Ulaanbaatar.
The meeting was attended by representatives from AmCham member organizations, international organizations, government officials as well local and international businesses. The guest speaker, Mr. Micaller, officially unveiled the U.S. Department of State Mongolia Investment Climate Statement 2018 to attendees of the meeting, a key document that reports on the investment climate of Mongolia after vigorous consultations with stakeholders. The guest speaker answered several key questions from the attendees on work being done to make Mongolia more attractive to foreign investment.
Chairman of AmCham Mongolia Mr. Steve Potter said, “AmCham Mongolia has and continues to work closely with both the Government of Mongolia and the U.S. Embassy to promote bilateral economic and commercial relations. Our priorities include encouraging economic diversification, supporting the Government of Mongolia in its efforts to create an improved economic policy framework that addresses fundamental issues in the economy, as well as continuing to advocate for the enforcement of the U.S.-Mongolia Transparency Agreement that will ultimately foster greater bilateral economic and commercial relations”.
Mr. Micaller, delivered keynote remarks and spoke about the U.S. Department of State’s Investment Climate Statement 2018 for Mongolia, highlighting, “The Investment Climate Report is based largely on feedback from and consultations with the business community, who help us understand the investment climate in Mongolia. Investors told us they perceived real improvement to the macro-economy, but are worried that a lack of transparency with respect to the government’s approach to the implementation of laws and regulations makes for an uncertain
