Jay Liotta

Mr. Liotta is a letterhead partner of MahoneyLiotta LLP and has 15 years of experience with Mongolia beginning in 2000 as a Peace Corps Volunteer. MahoneyLoitta is an amalgamation of some of the most experienced legal service providers and specialists from Mongolia and abroad. Mr. Liotta was named a leading lawyer for commercial practice in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, and as one of the world’s leading mining practitioners in Who’s Who Legal. He advises on market entry strategies, local partner selection and a diverse range of legal services in the minerals/energy, infrastructure, corporate and financial sectors, and has represented clients in arbitration at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and in the courts of Mongolia up through the Supreme Court. In addition, he has been at the forefront of numerous legislation initiatives fundamental to investment and doing business in Mongolia. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of Friends of Mongolia, and he is a member of the New York Bar Association and received a certificate from the Ministry of Justice as a registered foreign attorney in Mongolia.

Munkhnasan Narmandakh
Vice Chairwoman

At Monpolymet Group, as the Chairwoman, she oversees the Group’s various business activities in mining, mineral explorations, rehabilitation, construction and production of building materials with over 1000 employees while focusing on delivering the Group’s business visions through improvements in governance, environmental responsibility, standardization, and business performance. A trilingual financial engineer with World Bank, Central Bank of Mongolia development economics experience that ventured both in public and private sectors. Received cum laude diplomas with double majors in undergrad and graduate studies from George Washington University in Washington, DC, USA and the University of San Francisco, CA, USA in Finance and Economics. Previously as a CEO at Monpolymet, she implemented the company’s MonCement project and successfully commissioned Mongolia’s first technologically advanced and environmentally friendly cement plant that substitutes imports. Her past professional experience includes the World Bank producing macroeconomic reports from 2009-2012 while focusing on improving the public’s understanding of the economic situation and the rationale of the government’s policy reforms, thus helping to forge consensus around the policy reform agenda. She also worked at the Central Bank of Mongolia as an economist.


Byambajargal Ayushjav

Byambajargal (aka Bimja) is a graduate of Tsinghua University. Byambajargal is a strong advocate for public education on digital literacy in Mongolia, so she founded Faro Foundation Mongolia to raise social awareness and run training programs to raise public awareness of digital literacy. Faro has been the designated NGO partner of Facebook in Mongolia since 2018 and Byambajargal is also the representative consultant for Facebook on public policy work in Mongolia. She is highly supportive on education related campaigns and trainings as she joined as a participator in Global MIL Week 2020 initiated by UNESCO. In April 2019, she was ranked by Forbes as one of the 30 Under 30 Young Leader in Asia for her contributions to the development of social enterprise and digital literacy in Mongolia. Byambajargal has been also selected by the Asia Society for its signature Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative in 2020.

Amarbayasgalan Enkhsaihan

Amarbayasgalan has more than 16 years of experience in corporate finance and capital markets, having worked as the Chief Executive Officer at Golomt Capital LLC and Deputy Director of Investment Banking at Golomt Bank. Prior to that, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer at NewCom Mining Services LLC, an engineering services and mining equipment provider. Amarbayasgalan received his BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia, and an MBA in Finance and Decision Science from Indiana University. In addition, Amarbayasgalan was awarded the Capital Market Leader medal from MSE in 2017 and named by Forbes Mongolia Magazine “40 under 40”, and received the “Young Leader” medal from the Mongolian Youth Federation in 2015.

Enkhtuvshin Dashtseren

Enkhtuvshin is a respected entrepreneur who has been working for MCS Group for more than 20 years, starting off as a financial analyst, then becoming the Chief Financial Officer, then the Vice President of Strategy Business Development and is now serving as the Vice President for more than a decade. He graduated from Business School of Mongolian National University in 1997. He is well-known as a Shark on Shark Tank Mongolia. He is one of the leading roles in the economy’s private-led development.

Gerelmaa Batchuluun

Under her leadership, Steppe Group operates in the U.S., South Korea and Mongolia in vibrant areas such as capital markets, ICT and fintech. She has worked at the OECD on economic policy, investment, corporate governance, sustainable development, and innovation. She held C-level positions at technology startups in Korea and the U.S. before co-founding STEPPE TECH, the New York based integrated technology innovation agency that has worked with major financial institutions and universities. Steppe has successfully crafted and implemented market expansion strategies for the prominent startups from Korea to enter the U.S. market. Gerelmaa finished dual degrees at KAIST, one of the prestigious science and technology schools, with mathematical science and management. She finished her Masters at the University of Versailles with honors specializing in Innovation Management.

Munkhjin Batbayar

Muki has over 12 years of financial statement auditting experience. She started her auditing career at EY’s Denver office in the United States, where she worked for 4 years before transferring to EY Mongolia in 2012. Prior to joining EY in 2008, Muki worked in the Technical Accounting Department of one of America’s largest publicly listed real estate investment trusts (REIT), AIMCO (NYSE: AIV), where she worked on creating models for complex cash and gain allocations based on the real estate partnership agreements and ownership structures. Muki has Master of Accountancy degree from the University of Denver and is an active US and Mongolian CPA. She is also an active member of AmCham’s Financial Services Committee since its inception in March 2017 and is keen to contributing to the development of Mongolia’s financial services industry.

Jon Lyons

Jon Lyons has lived and worked intermittently in Mongolia and the Asia Pacific since 2001. He has worked in business, inter-governmental, non-profit and academic settings. As a member of the Erdene Resource Development management team, Jon works across the technical, permitting, environmental, and stakeholder relations functions to advance the company’s exploration and mining projects. From 2014 to 2017, Jon was the first in-country Representative of the inter-governmental Global Green Growth Institute, where he led advisory services on policy and investment planning in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water management. Jon holds a M.B.A. from Maastricht University and B.A. summa cum laude in physics and anthropology from Wheaton College. He volunteers as a guide and mentor for athletes with disabilities through Achilles International, and serves as a director of the Business Council of Mongolia. Jon is conversant in Mongolian and Russian.

Michael Fischer

Michael Fischer is a professional mining engineer with more than 30 years of mine management experience, covering gold and base metals in South Africa, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Chile, and Kyrgyzstan. In his previous post, Michael served as President of Kumtor Gold Company, a multi-million ounce gold mine with more than 5,000 employees in Kyrgyzstan. Mike’s long career in gold mining brings a wealth of experience that can be of great benefit to AmCham’s advocacy efforts to strengthen confidence in Mongolia’s gold mining policies.

Nick Cousyn

Mr. Cousyn is a Capital Markets professional with 18 years of alternatives and traditional industry experience. Before moving to Mongolia in 2012, Mr. Cousyn was an investment banking and securities professional in the U.S., working for such firms as Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, Natixis Bank and First Tennessee Bank. Since 2012, Mr. Cousyn has served as Chief Operating Officer and head of research for BDSec (MO:BDS), Mongolia’s largest broker and investment bank, the Chief Communications Officer for Petro Matad and was a Member of the Board of Directors of Sharyn Gol (MO:SHG), Mongolia’s fifth largest coal mine. Mr. Cousyn has been a fulltime resident of Mongolia since 2012, is currently the Co-Founder of Terra Explorers, Member of the Board of Directors for Mongolia Growth Group (YAK:CN) and holds a BA in Economics from the University of California at Riverside.

Chris Melville

Prior to founding his own firm, Chris Melville was the Managing Partner of Hogan Lovells (Mongolia) LLP. Based in Mongolia since 2012, he has developed a broad-based practice in the country, including advising foreign investors, Mongolian clients and the Mongolian government on corporate and M&A, joint venture, banking and finance, and infrastructure projects.  He has extensive experience of emerging market jurisdictions, having advised clients on cross-border investments relating to the Russian Federation for over 10 years prior to relocating to Mongolia, including a two-year period spent in Moscow with Hogan Lovells CIS. Recognized as the leading lawyer by several legal directories, Chris is a regular contributor to the De Facto Gazette, an English language biweekly publication on Mongolian economy.  He is Honorary Legal Advisor to the British Ambassador to Mongolia.
