Oyu Tolgoi-backed Gobi Oyu Development Fund commissions the Khanbogd School and Kindergarten Complex
The 840-student Khanbogd School and Kindergarten Complex, built and furnished with Oyu Tolgoi funding, is ready for use in Khanbogd soum. The project was proposed by the Province Governor’s Office when they identified capacity challenges in the town’s school system. Students were studying in multiple shifts and Khanbogd children had limited access to kindergarten enrollment. The new school will apply a curriculum meeting international standards to become a leader in natural science in secondary education.
According to a calculation by the Global Partnership for Education, “A 0.1% improvement in a country’s education equality can, over 40 years, raise its per capita income by 23%.” The following investment of 7.2 billion MNT into education aims to close the education gap between urban and rural Mongolia.
