The American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia Urges the Careful Reconsideration Of Revisions to the Draft Labor Law
UlAANBAATAR – The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mongolia extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Labor for providing the opportunity to AmCham Mongolia and leaders of private sector to comment and review the draft Labor Law before its submission to the Parliament. AmCham Mongolia always strive to serve the best interests of our members and a sophisticated Labor Law that ensures appropriate representation of the interests of employers and employees is vital to the further development of a free-market economy and attracting American businesses to Mongolia as well as promoting Mongolia as an investment destination.
AmCham Mongolia has taken an active leadership position in collecting concrete comments regarding the draft Labor Law upon numerous consultations and discussions with Mongolia’s leading companies including our members and prominent companies from Mongolia’s business sector.
There is an uncompromising need for an in-depth analysis and reconsideration of the conceptual framework and scope of the draft Labor Law and AmCham Mongolia re-emphasizes that the current draft law aims to regulate relationships that can, and should be, regulated either by separate legislation or by the internal procedures of corporate entities.
It is troublesome for existing businesses to grow and it is even more difficult for new businesses to get established when the employer and the employee relationship is strictly regulated by law. Hence, representatives from the Mongolian business sector, led by AmCham Mongolia, and other leading business organizations urge the Ministry of Labor to carefully reconsider the current draft Labor Law and to include the comments and suggestions from our members and other leaders of the private sector.
