The Mongolian Embassy to the USA and the Mongolian Studies Society successfully co-hosted the 2025 Annual Conference on Mongolian Studies at the Embassy on October 3–4, 2025.

A total of 34 presenters, both in-person and online, delivered papers and engaged in discussions on topics such as international relations, history, linguistics, customs, archaeology, and the history of Mongolian studies at the Smithsonian Institution. More than 50 participants, including scholars, researchers, and members of the public, attended the conference.

The event was opened by His Excellency the Ambassador of Mongolia to the United States, Batbayar Ulziidelger and Michael Klecheski, President of the Mongolian Studies Society (Former Ambassador to Mongolia). Ambassador Batbayar highlighted the Embassy’s ongoing initiatives to promote and nurture young scholars in Mongolian studies and expressed gratitude to researchers contributing to the advancement of the field. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among the Society, U.S. universities, and academic experts in strengthening Mongolian studies in the United States.

During the conference, participants also visited the Asian Art Museum in Washington, D.C., to explore exhibits related to the Mongol Empire.

From 2023 to 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Mongolia have worked closely with the Mongolian Studies Society to implement various initiatives supporting the next generation of scholars. The Embassy also provided financial support for the publication of the Society’s academic research and scholarly works.
