2022 has been mixed for the business environment, with recovery witnessed in some sectors, but the border bottleneck and Zero-Covid policy in China and emerging geopolitical challenges have brought additional issues to the country. Mongolia is facing shrinking foreign exchange reserves, a skyrocketing inflation rate, and limited foreign investments. Nevertheless, with the reopening of the economy in the Post-Covid19 context, AmCham Mongolia rolled out full-scale activities, organizing numerous events, vigorously engaging with stakeholders, undertaking focused policy advocacy efforts, representing the interests of members, and advocating for the organization’s values: promotion of a private sectorled economy, the free market, and free enterprise in Mongolia. A couple of highlights of our innovative initiatives include: organizing the first-ever in-country Doorknock, engaging with government stakeholders and presenting the Three Pillars for Positive Change policy statement; hosting ICT Week, bringing global digital businesses to the country; undertaking a popular tree planting corporate social responsibility initiative with the participation of around 100 volunteers; and up-scaling AmCham’s communications strategy and media exposure.
